Walk Kalamazoo is a walking and social group for women and enbys that meets up to make friends and walk!

Read below for our values, see our volunteer team, and what to expect.

#1 Walk Kalamazoo is Free

This group will always be free. We believe that finding community and building friendships should not have to cost you money. This group was started by volunteers and will continue to be volunteer led. If there’s ever a price tag to an event like a yoga class, it’s 100% to support the work of local businesses and creators we believe in.

#2 Walk Kalamazoo is Queer

This group is for women, trans, & non-binary folks, and is led by queer people. You don’t have to be queer to attend, but you do have to support queer people.

#3 Walk Kalamazoo cares about Accessibility

We are mindful and inclusive of those with disabilities, and we will always include accessibility information for each walk we host. While some walks may be trailed, we prioritize hosting paved walks 1-2x a month to accommodate those with mobility devices.

#4 Walk Kalamazoo is Anti-Diet Culture

This is not a weight loss group or diet group. We believe in body liberation. You are good, just as you are.

#5 Walk Kalamazoo can’t wait to meet YOU

Seriously, we love being your friends. We can’t wait to meet you. Come alone, together, with your baby, your pup - however you'd like. Our DMs are always open to your feedback, advice, and encouragement. If we haven’t met yet, we can’t wait to meet you.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never been to a Walk Kalamazoo event. Can I come alone?

YES! Most attendees come alone, and there’s always someone new at the event. We encourage you to come, make some friends, and take a leap at trying something new. Plus, our events are a low time commitment! Most walks are under 1 hour.

Can I bring my child/teen?

Short answer - yes! Please read over the event description to make sure there are no age requirements. There are few instances where children aren’t encouraged to attend, however on all walks, kids are welcome! If you’re bringing a stroller, be sure to check out trail details in the event post (look for walks with paved paths!) Please be safe, your child is your responsibility.

Can I bring my dog?
Short answer - yes! Friendly, leased dogs are welcome on walking events. Please note there is a great chance that other dogs, and even small children, may be joining us. Always read over the event description to make sure if dogs are welcome.

Where do I meet you? Can I come late?

All meet points are listed in each event description on Instagram. Your Walk Kalamazoo lead will be there and wait until 5 minutes after the listed beginning walk time. If you’re going to be late, please DM us! We try to check out messages before heading out.

I run my own business/group. Can we collaborate on an event?

Thank you for your interest! We take much care on who and what we promote. We require all collaborations to reflect our full mission and vision statement. Please send us a DM about your inquiry, and join us on a walk some time to chat with one of our volunteers.

Can I volunteer?

Thank you for your interest! We require all volunteers to be active attendees of Walk Kalamazoo. If you haven’t yet, join us on a walk sometime to chat with one of our volunteers about helping out.
